JABE: Outback Country Vampire

Crossing the bridge between traditional bluegrass and modern rock and roll is Somerville's own, Jabe. His latest effort, "Outback Country Vampire," has helped earn him a Boston Music Award nomination for "Best Roots Rock Band." The songs you'll find on "Outback" aren't as over the top as Jabe's live show, where he's been known to rock out with the fervor of a mad man, yet its definitely not as toned-down as Jabe's other band, The Benders; a more traditional Appalachian ensemble that also performs some of the material from this album. "Outback" is able to capture a magical hybrid of good ole Americana, folk and country with songs like "Old Masons Bridge" and "Let in the Blue" But if I had to sum it up, I'd say this CD just plain out rocks.
